Description

This is The Eskimo Nebula NGC 2392. This is a bipolar double-shell planetary nebula. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It is surrounded by gas that is composed of an outer layer sun like star. The visible inner filaments are ejected by strong wind of particles from the central star. The outer disk contains unusual light year filaments.

The Eskimo Nebula lies 2,870 light years away in the constellation Gemini. It has a visual magnitude of 10.3 with a size of 47" x 43" which makes it very small.

This was cropped and enlarged to show more inner detail. I also removed a few of the largest stars near NGC 2392 in Photoshop so the focus could be drawn onto the planetary nebula itself.

I still have 15 more images to stack and will try to post an update later when the final stacked is processed.

I just posted a revised vision of The Eskimo Nebula since I did not autoguide on this dso I could not get the images to stack and align properly ; so I took the best single image from my 17 and did further processing. This image was the cleanest and most detailed of all of them. The seeing must have been at its best when this image was snapped. This is the best most detailed dso I have ever taken on my own equipment and just as the saying goes persistance does pay off if you never give up.
